Micro/Virtual Wedding Guest Style Tips & Etiquette

Wedding season has fast approached and is it just me, or does it feel like the last year has been a long chain wedding seasons? As many have had to adjust they’re wedding plans, we’ve all moved into a new world of virtual weddings. And while it’s exciting, it still brings on the question of what to wear. I’ve gathered together some of my tips on how to stay stylish yet respectful even at a virtual or micro wedding.

For starters, the same rule applies as an in-person wedding... do not wear white. Unless specifically directed by the wedding party themselves, I’d suggest staying away from that color! Another thing to note for those logging into a virtual wedding, you want to make sure that your apparel doesn't detract from the bride and groom. Not only that, but even your background. If your camera is on, I'd suggest doing a pre-check before logging on to make sure of this.

Like any other virtual meeting, it's at times hard to tell if someone is dressed up or not because of the lack of full range visibility. This is why it's so vital to dress up from the chest up. This means you may have to wear those fancy earrings you keep hidden in your closet. You might have to whip out that shade of lipstick you're scared to wear in person for fear of looking too bold. Now, I'm not saying to throw on every piece of jewelry your own and cake up your makeup. But, you might have to turn it up just a notch for it to come through on camera.

Micro weddings are just like other weddings in the sense that majority of the rules apply. Whether it be style or etiquette. But now, having to wear masks play a role in how you'll dress. You may want to buy a mask that matches your dress. You might be worried about your makeup and whether or not it will smudge underneath your mask. These are all reasonable things to be concerned about. I'd suggest making sure your makeup is secure by spraying a setting spray. If you're getting your makeup done professionally, this should already be taken care of. In terms of masks, it's okay to match your mask to your outfit. Rather than viewing it as an added baggage, view your mask as an accessory

I hope this gave you either the encouragement not to worry so much about attending either a micro or virtual wedding. I also hope it gave you some confidence in showing up with style to support your loved ones. Check down below to see where I purchased the items I'm wearing in this post. Have a lovely weekend as always!
